The Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (DET) is a leading centre for education in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, and Physics through its Bachelor's degree programmes. In collaboration with other departments, it also offers advanced Master's degree specializations in communications, electronic systems, ICT, nanotechnologies, physics of complex systems, quantum engineering, and mechatronics. The Department also plays an active role in Biomedical Engineering education, promoting an interdisciplinary approach that integrates electronic technologies, intelligent systems, and applications for healthcare and life sciences.
Teaching is strongly supported by 6 state-of-the-art hardware and software laboratories (LED), accommodating up to 400 students from the undergraduate level onwards and providing a progressive, hands-on learning experience.
The close integration of rigorous theoretical foundations with experimental training makes education truly experiential, while the Department's continuous collaboration with industry ensures that teaching remains closely aligned with technological innovation. As a result, graduates pursuing careers in industry, research - in Italy or abroad - or further academic studies benefit from a strong and distinctive educational background, enabling them to contribute to and lead future technological innovation.
Complementing traditional education and in line with University initiatives, we host multidisciplinary student teams, offering opportunities to develop practical projects and acquire technical and managerial skills while fostering collaboration, inclusion, and personal growth.
The Department's educational portfolio includes Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Physics (ETF), as well as Biomedical Engineering. The programmes are characterized by a strong interdisciplinary approach, fostered through close collaboration with other departments across the University.
Each year, we select more than 50 Italian and international graduates to join our PhD programme, where they undertake cutting-edge research on the Department's core scientific and technological topics. Most PhD candidates, talented early-career researchers, receive public or industry-funded scholarships or participate in joint supervision programmes with international universities.
The PhD programme is part of the Doctoral School in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering (IEEC). The Department also contributes to the PhD Programme in Bioengineering and Medical-Surgical Sciences.
